Programming

In order to become a larger presence at Alfred University, ODK needs to step up and make an impact in the campus community. There are several ways we can go about this. Some examples are:

Posters
T-Shirts
Events
Hot Dog Day
Workshops
Bake Sales
Booths at Events/PCC
Recruitment
Word of mouth
Community service
Student Senate (as a non-club representative)

If anyone would like to help the executive board come up with innovative ways to promote ODK on campus starting in the fall semester, please contact Rose at rf3@alfred.edu. You may also reply comments and ideas here. Take time this summer to brainstorm and bring ideas back to our first meeting sometime early September. We will also be working on recruitment for fall 2011 inductees.

  1. Recorded from one of our meetings we talked about:
-volunteering at a hot dog stand on Hot Dog Day
-making t-shirts to wear while working hot dog stand
    -Relay for Life team
-Send letters to local businesses to inform them of ODK and our desire to help the community
-Development of an ODK circle page for Alfred that can be displayed on alfred.edu
-Hosting a reception to allow ODK members to meet community members and campus faculty and staff
-Heading a blood drive in fall semester
-Volunteering at a local soup kitchen or meals-on-wheels program
-Creating a recognition program for first-year an sophmore students to market ODK potential future members
-Having a table at Purple and Gold Days and Block Party during First-year orientation
    -Spaghetti or chicken dinner

To add, I would like to say some sort of ODK bonding event would be great. It would be nice to get to know one another. Possibly a potluck dinner/dance or a camping event would be a great way to meet other ODK members. Many of us are unaware of who each other are or which faculty and staff members are part of the circle.
